Byways Breaks, Cycling and walking holidays, Beeston Castle Byways Breaks

Cheshire Cycleway

5 nights - strenuous or 7 nights - moderate

The Cheshire Cycleway is a signposted 176 mile cycleway looping around the county. It follows quiet country lanes and explores the varied countryside of Cheshire from the Welsh border, across the gentle plains through to the Peaks in the east. Cycling is varied and includes some more hilly sections on the edge of the Peak district. There are many places to visit either on, or close to, the route if you want a break from the saddle, including fine houses like Gawsworth Hall, half timbered villages like Barthomley, and the ruins of Beeston Castle.

Day 3 - The first part of the day takes you to Delamere Forest and then on to Great Budworth and past Marbury Country Park. From here the route goes through Rostherne and then to Mobberly for the next overnight stay.  37 miles

Day 4 - This is the toughest, hilly day starting by climbing Alderly Edge and then through Prestbury one of Cheshire's wealthiest villages. From here on to Bollington, skirting the edge of Macclesfield Forest. Some climbs with fantastic views.
