Delamere Forest to Ellesmere

3 NIGHTS - Strenuous

This break is ideal for keen, or regular cyclists. Start near Tarporley, explore Delamere Forest, and then head south through Nantwich and Audlem and the rolling Cheshire countryside. From here the route heads into north Shropshire and passing many small lakes and visiting the market town of Ellesmere. Return to your starting point along the Welsh border through villages of Bangor on Dee and Farndon.

Cycling distances - 40 - 50 miles a day or 35 - 40 miles (35 - 40 miles stay different places every night - £20 farm, £30 inn supplement)

ITINERARY  35 - 40 miles 

Day 1 - Arrive at Tarporley from lunchtime. We will meet you when you arrive, to deliver bikes and adjust them to make sure they are comfortable. Circular ride to Delamere Forest 24 miles or shorter ride if arriving later to Little Budworth Common. Explore Tarporley

Day 2 - Cycle from Tarporley to Nantwich with its pretty streets, antique shops and small museum. The route then continues to the canalside village of Audlem, passing Stapley Water Gardens, through Wrenbury and on to Cholmondeley. Accommodation is either in the Cholmondeley Arms or farm nearby -  40 miles. 

Day 3 - From Cholmondeley cycle to Malpas and onto the the village of Hanmer with its pretty mere. From here skirt Whixhall Moss and on to the small market town of Wem with perhaps a to the Treacle Mine tea shop. From here the route takes you to Colemer Country Park and on to Ellesmere -  39 miles 

Day 4 - Cycle back to Tarporley along the river Dee through Overton, Bangor on Dee with its small racecourse and on to Farndon. From here circle the Peckforton Hills to Tattenhall pass the Ice Cream farm and Beeston Castle. We meet you back at your starting point with you luggage and to collect the bikes.- 38 miles - we can shorten this route if you want to finish early - please advise us.

ITINERARY  40  - 50 miles 

Day 1 - Arrive at Tarporley from lunchtime. We meet you when you arrive, to deliver bikes and adjust them to make sure they are comfortable. Circular ride to Delamere Forest 24 miles or shorter ride if arriving later to Little Budworth Common. Explore Tarporley

Day 2 - Cycle from Tarporley to Nantwich with its pretty streets, antique shops and small museum. The route then continues to the canalside village of Audlem, passing Stapley Water Gardens, through Wrenbury, on to Cholmondeley and Malpas. From here the route passes Hanmer Mere before continuing on to Ellesmere -  51 miles. 

Day 3 - Circular ride past Colemere Country Park to Wem, then through Burlton and on to Whittington castle ruins. From here quiet countryside back to Ellesmere -  Just over 40 miles 

Day 4 - Cycle back to Tarporley along the river Dee through Overton, Bangor on Dee with its small racecourse and on to Farndon. From here circle the Peckforton Hills to Tattenhall pass the Ice Cream farm and Beeston Castle. We meet you back at your starting point with you luggage and to collect the bikes.- 38 - 40 miles
