Walk
the Gritstone Trail

nights - MODERATE
This
35 mile trail stretches from Disley to Kidsgrove, with some long climbs,
steep but short ascents, fine ridge walks and stunning views over the
Cheshire plain. The first part of the walk is through Lyme Park and then the
trail climbs up onto the moors, through Macclesfield Forest and along the
Dane valley. Then it follows Congleton Edge and finishes in Kidsgrove. There are
stations at each end of the trail. Accommodation is pub/farmhouse B & B.

ITINERARY
First Day - Arrive
at B & B accommodation in Disley from lunchtime. Day
2 - We meet you in the morning to collect your luggage and run through
the arragements. Walk through Lyme Park (chance to visit the house and
gardens used in filming of Pride and Prejudice) and onto the moors for a
short stretch before heading down to the old mill town of Bollington. 8
miles Day
3 - A longer day with many great viewpoints over the Cheshire Plain
and the Peaks. Walk through Tegs Nose Country Park, Macclesfield Forest
and Coker Hill to Rushton. Accommodation in farmhouse at Heaton. 14.5
miles Day 4
- Todays walk takes you to Bosely Cloud, over Congleton Edge to Mow Cop
and on to Kidsgrove,
to the end of the walk where we meet
you with your luggage and take you back to the car or on to the station. 12.5 miles.
