Byways Breaks have been arranging walking holidays, cycling holidays and cycle tours in the UK forĀ  more than 25 years. We know the best places to stay and our UK cycling and walking routes are carefully planned so you explore the most beautiful countryside, visit places of interest and stop at the best pubs and tea shops. The gentle, unspoilt countryside of Shropshire, Cheshire and Welsh borders is a lovely area of the UK for a walking and cycling.

All our walking holidays and cycling holidays are self-led so you have the freedom to explore at your own pace, safe in the knowledge that all other details of your holiday have been taken care of by us.

Walking holidays

For walking holidays, the area offers rolling countryside with many footpaths and beautiful scenery. We offer a selection of walking holidays in Wales and north of England. You can choose more hilly walking around Shropshire and the Welsh borders, including Offa’s Dyke Path and Glyndwr’s Way.

Coastal walking holidays follow sections of the Wales Coast Path, including Pembrokeshire, Anglesey, and North Wales. The Llangollen Canal is a nice gentle canalside walk and the Sandstone Trail, a low ridge walk makes a great short weekend walking break.

This is a flexible service where we help you plan your walking holiday around the distances you want to walk each day. We book your accommodation in carefully selected, walker friendly B & Bs, pubs and hotels and make all the payments. We also arrange for your luggage to be transferred on each day. You can use our local knowledge and expertise without booking a fully packaged walking holiday which saves you making all the arrangements yourself. We are happy to do as much or as little as you want, giving you more control and choice over your walking holiday.

Cycling holidays

Cheshire, Shropshire and Anglesey are beautiful for cycling holidays, it’s not too flat to be boring, with the occasional hill and slope to give variety and views. There are lots of places of interest to stop off at along the way, including castles, museums, canals, and pretty villages as well as places for good food and drinks. You can choose from gentle, moderate or more strenuous cycling routes so there is something for all abilities.
