Description
Cheshire is a fertile farming county, renowned for its good food and drink. This route visits some of the finest pubs, tea shops and farm shops with opportunity to taste some of its finest produce - many award winners! Start near Tarporley at the Alvanley Arms with its Shire Horse Centre (with free entry for B & B guests) and Lakeside Cafe.
Cycle over the Peckforton Hills (not high!) to Farndon and Bangor on Dee on the border of Wales. From here the route passes through Malpas to spend a night at the Cholmondeley Arms. This tour explores the quiet countryside, villages and pubs in the west of Cheshire towards the Welsh border. Visit Beeston Castle, Stretton Water Mill and Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, stopping at some of the many pubs on the route, many of which are in the Good Pub and Good Beer Guides like the Dysart Arms at Bunbury, the Rising Sun in Tarporley, and Cholmondeley Arms.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive at the Alvanley Arms from late morning/lunchtime. We meet you when you arrive to deliver the bikes and adjust then to make sure they are comfortable. Choice of circular cycle ride to Delamere Forest (about 17 miles) or to Tarporley and Little Budworth Country Park (about 10 miles). Opportunity to look around the Shire Horse Centre.
Day 2 - Cycle to the Georgian village of Tarporley and then on to Beeston Castle, well worth a visit. From here head over the Peckforton Hills (only a short climb) and on to Farndon and the nearby village of Holt over the River Dee and into Wales. From here its a short ride to Bangor on Dee and your 2nd nights accommodation. - 26 miles
Day 3 - Cycle through quiet village along the English/Welsh border to the small town of Malpas - a very nice cafe here for a lunch stop. From here on to Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (please note they are not open every day - check with us best starting dates if you want to visit here). Stay at the Cholmondeley Arms. - 21 - 22 miles
Day 4 - Cycle back to the Alvanley Arms through quiet villages including Wrenbury on the Shropshire Union Canal and Marbury with its pretty Mere. In Bunbury stop off for lunch at one of our, and our guests, favorite pubs, the Dysart Arms. Option for guests wanting to leave early, to reduce the route by not visiting Wrenbury and Marbury.We meet you back at the Alvanley Arms with you luggage and to collect the bikes. Main route 25 miles, short route 14 miles.
