Covid-19 has changed the way we have all had to operate. Byways Breaks have been organising walking and cycling holidays for more than 25 years. We know the areas and walks inside out, the places to stay, and are experienced in putting together flexible itineraries. In the last couple of years this knowledge, experience and flexibility have proved invaluable in us being able to respond quickly and safely to the many changes that have occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are well equipped to organise a safe and quality holiday for you.

Our providers have worked hard following the guidance to ensure they are are covid safe. Many B & Bs and hotels we use have been awarded the Visit Britain ‘Good to Go’ mark. Holidays are a little different from how they were pre-covid, but we have prepared some information which will give you an idea of what to expect on your holiday at the moment.

A self guided walking or cycling holiday is a great way to get back into the countryside and plan a holiday as you can travel safely in your own bubble, and easily keep your distance from other people.

You can book your walking or cycling holiday through us with confidence, knowing that we will be flexible should there be any changes due to Covid-19. We have extended our terms and conditions for 2022 as follows

In these continued, uncertain times we have extended our ‘Booking with confidence’ promise for all holidays for 2022.

Cancellation by Byways Breaks – If we are not able to deliver your itinerary due to government restrictions we will either

  • Agree a suitable replacement holiday
  • Offer a credit voucher, valid until the end of 2023
  • Or offer a refund for parts of the holiday we cannot deliver

If you are unable to travel due to restrictions – If Byways Breaks are able to fulfil your itinerary, but you have to cancel your holiday due to Covid reasons, you must notify us in writing along with reasons, giving a minimum of 28 days notice. You are advised to take out travel insurance which will cover you in the event of having to cancel due to Covid. Acceptable Covid reasons are if you are diagnosed with covid and unable to travel, or if foreign office or government restrictions mean you are unable to travel. Reasons will be at our discretion.

In these instances we will either

  • Agree a suitable replacement holiday. This will incur a £50 admin change fee
  • Offer a credit voucher, less any non refundable costs which will be valid until the end of 2023. This will incur a £50 admin change fee
  • Cancellation in line with our standard booking terms and conditions
Your payments are safe

Deposit payments are only £100 per person and balance payment are not due until 6 weeks before your holiday. All payments made by you are held in a trust account and are fully protected until your holiday is competed. See our full booking terms and conditions.
