28th January 2017

Byways Breaks walking holiday following the Sandstone Trail, as walked by Julia Bradbury on Britains Best Walks.

The Sandstone Trail was shown on Britains Best Walks shown on ITV on Friday 27 January. The Sandstone Trail is a  low ridge which runs through Cheshire, from Beacon Hill near Frodsham, through Delamere Forest, past Beeston Castle and over the Peckforton Hills to Grindley Brook near Whitchurch on the Shropshire border. This sandstone ridge divides the low plains of the River Dee to the west and the River Weaver to the East and has great views over the Cheshire Plain to the Welsh Hills.

The total walking distance is 30 – 35 miles depending on overnight stops. The Sandstone Trail is a relatively gentle walk with some more moderate hilly sections and makes an ideal for a short break. Byways offer option to either walk the Trail in 2 or 3 days.

It is a well signposted walk and the holiday includes bed and breakfast accommodation, maps and route details, luggage transfer and full back up in case you need help. See the Sandstone Trail Holiday for more information
